Bill Skins Fifth: For the threat
28/07/13 || Pr0nogo
I don’t know much about Bill Skins Fifth, but I know that their name makes me think about “Kill Bill” AND potato skins simultaneously. Fortunately for them, this Finnish melodeath outfit were able to keep me just as happy as the aforementioned thoughts made me with their third consecutive EP, “For the Threat“. While it’s nothing particularly special, the positive traits of this album are readily apparent: focus, persistence, and a good fuckin’ sound. “For the Threat“ genuinely sounds good, despite having a bit of a washed-out production, and that makes for an enjoyable listen.
From the guitarplay that goes up and down the frets relatively smoothly to the drumming that includes a variety of mid-paced sections and hat hits alongside the standard beat-the-shit-out-of-your-snare approach, Bill Skins Fifth seem to know how to make a decent, albeit short, melodic death metal record. I’d only ask the boys from Finland to make sure they pay more attention to songwriting when it comes time to release a full-length effort, because I was finding myself a bit lost at some points and a bit bored at others, but the energy, the variety, and the skill are all there. They have the makings of a great band that puts out great music: they just need to fine-tune things a bit more.
7/10: A solid melodeath experience, despite (or perhaps because of) its short length.

After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
